Kaley Cuoco is famously known for her appearance in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The amount of time she spent working on the show made her so comfortable that she was not able to explore more daring scenes in other projects.
After the show ended, Cuoco found a new work which she devoted her time. She starred in the dark comedy thriller The Flight Attendant, which even won her a Golden Globe nomination. As fancy as that sounds, the behind-the-scenes were not glamorous at all.
Kaley Cuoco's co-star, Michiel Huisman, appeared in an interview with ITV's This Morning (via Yahoo) and revealed the actress was very uncomfortable while filming their love scene. He shared:
"Of course, I didn't realize, but for some reason, she had never done a love scene before, I guess that never happened on The Big Bang Theory. So when we were doing a fairly decent… we're making out on the bed, under the covers, we're doing our first scene like that, and I noticed she was sort of hovering on top of me, she's not really sitting on my legs.
Huisman, who played Daario Naharis in the hit HBO show Game of Thrones, is no stranger to filming intimate scenes. Cuoco, on the other hand, was more of an amateur when it came to scenes like this. The actor continued:
"After like take three she starts to shake a little bit, and I'm like, 'Kaley, what are you doing? Just sit down!' And it turned out that she was so uncomfortable and she had no idea how to do this thing. She was trying not to touch me."
The Dutch star felt really exhausted holding the same position after several takes and told Cuoco to just relax.
Cuoco spent the majority of her early adulthood filming with the cast of the famed comedy show, and it was very significant in shaping her career. But after her stint in The Big Bang Theory, the actress found great success with The Flight Attendant, which marks her departure from her old acting style.
Speaking with Glamour, Kaley Cuoco admitted the transition from working on The Big Bang Theory to The Flight Attendant was challenging. She said she was not used to receiving awards or even becoming the lead star of the show. Cuoco shared:
"I laughed about it last season [when I was called] 'newcomer Kaley Cuoco' after I got nominated for the Golden Globe. But in a sense, I was, because I'd never been in that arena of [getting] nominations. It wasn't something that ever happened to me. I don't know why that is the way it turned out."
The actress also pondered how people would receive her now that she has veered away from being a comedian.
"Big Bang was such a group piece. It was such an ensemble show. And I got to put in my funny sarcasms and my little things, but I wasn't the leader of that show. Sometimes I got to take a backseat, and sometimes I got to shine. And so, when I decided to do The Flight Attendant, I was like, 'Are people going to judge this choice, because they see me as a comedic actress?'"
Cuoco's transition may have been overwhelming, and fans are still getting used to it, but this was a great opportunity for the actress to show how versatile she is and that she can do more than comedy.
