Jon Snow's future is still in limbo according to HBO.

Following the ending of on HBO, the future of Jon Snow has been up in the air. Despite company CEO Casey Bloys teasing the potential spinoff show for Kit Harington's noble Crow character earlier this year, Bloys clarified to that the show has yet to receive the official green light. “We always have scripts in development," said the chairman “We greenlit Dunk and Egg in the spring. I wouldn’t say there is anything else in that world that is close to a green light or anything, but we are always working on different scripts and ideas.”

As noted, HBO is still moving forward with expanding the

universe; season two of the first spinoff, , will reportedly premiere in early summer 2024. Additionally, a second spinoff has been approved, , based on the series' author George R.R. Martin's series.

Fans Want To See Snow's Story Unfold

The absolutely massive size of ' universe and well-documented lore gives show runners the opportunity to take their pick in terms of who and/or what to expand upon for a screen adaptation. The decision to aka Aegon Targaryaen after the main series' conclusion was certainly a smart one, seeing as the character was a fan favorite and one of the few who survived the entire series -- Snow had connected with audiences for the shows' entirety, and the disappointing nature of

' final season left fans wanting something more satisfying for the One True King.

Earlier this year, Martin confirmed that Harington would return for the spinoff to reprise his character. stated that Harington was heavily involved in the show's creation, and Danaerys Targaryen actress and co-star Emilia Clarke added that she had spoken to Harington about it as well. That being said, the spinoff is still awaiting approval and thus fans will have to be patient. Other spinoff shows are also reportedly sitting idle as they wait for the green light, including one for the Sea Snake Corlys Velaryon, another on Dorne's founder Princess Nymeria, and a mysterious animated project known only as .

It's going to be some time before fans will even get to consume the shows that have been approved -- with the still currently ongoing and the writer's strike only recently coming to a close, delays have undeniably affected the production process. That being said, is hoping to begin filming early next year according to Bloys.
