Actress Suzanne Somers and her husband, Alan Hamel, have sold their Palm Springs compound, which they have called home since 1977. The couple plans to move to a new home nearby, which they intend to make as eco-friendly as possible.

They will incorporate green features such as balanced air quality, chemical-free drywall, solar power, and an organic garden. Additionally, they plan to recreate a "passion pit" from their early days of falling in love, which was a carpeted area in front of a fireplace on an old houseboat that they lived in. The sale of their Palm Springs compound, listed for $8.5 million, is currently in contract for the asking price.

Somers and Hamel did not comment on the details of the sale.

Somers said the decision to sell came after she emotionally, spiritually, and physically let go of the home, stating that it was no longer the right fit for them. Last year, Somers suffered a fractured hip and underwent neck surgery but has had a successful recovery. She recently shared an Instagram picture with her granddaughter, wearing matching denim shorts. Somers is also promoting a new "Gut Renew 30-Day Challenge" and is experiencing high demand for her signature smoothie powder, ordering 72 tons to keep up.
