In addition, Eric remained none the wiser that his kin was wise to his health woes, and Carter remained equally in the dark despite being Ridge’s so called best friend. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Sweet Sorrow

At Forrester Creations, Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) struggled to digest their dad’s news. Eric (John McCook) dying? It doesn’t feel real. He can’t go. They’re not ready to lose him. “”I’m not either,” shared Ridge.

The young ones were equally galled by the thought of acting like it’s all business as usual.

How are they supposed to keep this a secret? How are they supposed to act like everything is fine?

All good questions, but they’re going to have to wait. Mostly because Ridge doesn’t have any easy answers, and also because Carter (Lawerence Saint-Victor) came barreling in with questions of his own. Namely, why did Ridge give away the win? Why was he letting Eric believe a falsehood?

And no, Carter wouldn’t buy that Ridge merely wanted to see his dad happy. The last time they talked, he was practically itching to rub the win in Eric’s face. What happened? What isn’t he being told?

All good questions, but they’re going to have to wait.

Mostly because Ridge doesn’t want to betray Eric’s wishes any more than he already has, but also because Eric came barreling in ready to get to work. After some smart comments about office being used as a “conference room,” Eric made it clear that he didn’t want sitting behind desk. Everyone assured him that they understood.

Eric then crowed a bit about his win — but he also made sure to give credit where it was due. If it hadn’t been for Ridge, he never would have remembered how good a little healthy competition is for an artist. And that’s what they all are. Artists. (Well, minus Steffy.) They do art, and art never dies.

It is eternal. Much like Eric’s prized stapler.

And as for his future plans? Eric intends to live every day until it’s his last. Luckily, he doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. Cue the tears and the reminiscence to days gone by and a big group hug.

Familial Territory

Meanwhile, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Katie (Heather Tom) offered their support to Donna (Jennifer Gareis). Keeping Eric’s secret has nearly killed her. Thank goodness she can talk to someone else about it now.

Yeah, about that. Brooke revealed that Ridge couldn’t hold back any longer and told the kids about their grandfather’s predicament.

Donna, for her part, understood completely. But Steffy and Thomas must keep mum. Eric can never know that they know.

Hope (Annika Noelle) eventually came barreling through the door to discuss Hope For The Future business with Eric only to find her mother and aunts in a sorry state. What’s going on? What’s happened?

All good questions, and they don’t have to wait. With Donna’s expressed permission, Brooke told Hope that Eric was dying. Shock. Awe. Heartbreak. Indignity. And, finally, acceptance. The four then resolved to love and support Eric by honoring his wishes, no matter how hard it’ll be for them. Cue the group hug.
