Gal Gadot, star of Wonder Woman, has explained why her highly-anticipated Cleopatra movie has been a long time coming. She acknowledges the responsibility of adapting the story of the iconic Egyptian queen and stresses the importance of taking the time to develop the script. 

Gadot aims to showcase a lesser-known side of Cleopatra and wants to celebrate her brilliance and legacy. The film will be directed by Kari Skogland and written by Laeta Kalogridis. 

The project has moved from Paramount Pictures to Universal Pictures. A release date for the Cleopatra movie has not yet been announced.
