Gal Gadot has become a controversial figure in Hollywood due to her public support of Israel and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in which she served as a fitness instructor. The 38-year-old Wonder Woman star has been using her social media accounts to express solidarity with her native country during its conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
The recent attack by Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants on southern Israel, which they claimed was in retaliation for the worsening conditions for Palestinians under Israeli occupation, has further intensified tensions.
In response, Israel launched hundreds of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, followed by ground operations.
Although false claims surfaced online suggesting that Gadot had enlisted in the Israeli army to fight Hamas, she did, in fact, join the IDF at the age of 20 as part of her mandatory military service.
Gadot's military experience played a pivotal role in her early Hollywood career, particularly in landing her first significant role in the 2009 action film "Fast & Furious." Her two years as a combat fitness instructor in the IDF not only helped maintain her physicality but also equipped her with discipline and teamwork skills, which she attributes to her success in the film industry.
However, Gadot's affiliation with the Israeli military has not been immune to controversy. In 2022, her film "Death on the Nile" was banned in Lebanon and Kuwait due to her connections. Lebanon had previously prohibited screenings of her movies "Wonder Woman" and "Wonder Woman 1984."
