10 'Awe-Struck' Animal Charities that Received Over $30K in Donations from the Betty White Challenge!

Following the recent passing of beloved TV icon Betty White at the age of 99, fans launched the Betty White Challenge, a heartfelt online movement aimed at honoring the star's lifelong dedication to animal welfare. On January 17, which would have been White's 100th birthday, the challenge encouraged individuals to donate to local animal shelters, rescues, and other organizations devoted to animal welfare. Among the notable donations received as part of the Betty White Challenge, the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) received $70,389 on Monday.

The charity arm of the Los Angeles zoo also received over $90,000 in donations overall in honor of White. Meanwhile, the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BCSPCA) in Canada raised an awe-inspiring sum of over $400,000 through the Betty White Challenge. The BCSPCA expressed its gratitude to White's team, who were thrilled by the tremendous impact she had on animals in British Columbia.

Canadian animal rescue organizations continued to benefit from the Betty White Challenge, with the Calgary Humane Society receiving over $91,000 in donations and the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in New York receiving over $50,000 from more than 1,500 donors.

The Nashville Humane Association in Tennessee received over $50,000 in donations, while the Wisconsin Humane Society received over $60,000 from more than 1,600 Betty White Challenge donations.

Other animal welfare organizations that experienced the generosity of White's fans include the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, which received over $50,500, and the Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly), which received close to $50,000. The Ventura County Animal Services received an amazing $51,510, surpassing their modest fundraising goal of $10,000. Additionally, musician Trisha Yearwood participated in the Betty White Challenge by hosting a live stream fundraiser, which raised more than $38,000 for the Dottie's Yard Fund, with matching donations from Yearwood and the e-commerce site talkshoplive.
