Her son, Bruce Somers Jr., stood by her side until the very end when she passed away in October 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her publicist, R. Couri Hay, shared that Suzanne peacefully passed away at home in the early morning hours of October 15. She had bravely fought an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years. Suzanne had the comfort of being surrounded by her adoring husband, Alan Hamel, her son Bruce, and her immediate family. Before she left this world, her loving husband, Alan, bestowed upon her a final gift - a handwritten love poem wrapped in her favorite pink peonies.

Suzanne was a mother to her son Bruce Jr., whom she had with her ex-husband Bruce Somers. Additionally, Suzanne and Alan had two stepchildren, Stephen and Leslie, from their previous marriages. Suzanne and Alan blended their families after they married in 1977. Suzanne often expressed her love and admiration for Bruce Jr., calling him the "greatest person on the entire planet.

" She celebrated his birthday each year with heartfelt tributes on Instagram, expressing her joy in being his mom. Bruce Jr. survived a car accident at the age of 6, and Suzanne sought professional help to help him overcome the nightmares and night sweats that followed. Bruce Jr. went on to study film at UCLA and became an executive producer, also owning several businesses.

Suzanne's stepchildren, Stephen and Leslie, played significant roles in her life as well. Stephen is a movie producer known for his work on films like "Passengers" and "Replicas." Leslie, on the other hand, is a talented costume designer who has collaborated with notable names like Madonna and Barry Manilow. Blending families was not an easy task for Suzanne and Alan, and it initially strained their second marriage. However, over time and with a little therapy, they were able to overcome the challenges and create a united and loving family. Suzanne cherished her time with her blended family, which included six grandchildren.
