During the 2023 ACM Honors broadcast on Monday night, Tim McGraw was overwhelmed with emotion as he accepted the ACM Icon Award. The ceremony took place at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on August 23 and aired on September 18.

The ACM Icon Award is given each year to a country music artist, duo/group, or industry leader who has made significant contributions to the genre. McGraw began his acceptance speech by acknowledging that he is a "weeper" and expressed how music has had a profound impact on his life. "Music can change a life, or save a life. I know it's saved mine probably more than once..

.and it's tried to kill me a couple times as well," McGraw shared, choking up with emotion.

The country superstar also took a moment to address his wife, Faith Hill, expressing his gratitude and love for her. He stated, "I would not be where I am today without you and your grace. I love you unconditionally."

Brett Young, another country artist, paid tribute to McGraw during the ceremony by performing one of his earliest hits, "Don't Take the Girl." This song achieved McGraw's first No. 1 hit when it was released in 1994 as the second single from his album "Not a Moment Too Soon."

McGraw was among esteemed company at the ACM Honors event, as other honorees included Chris Stapleton receiving the ACM Triple Crown Award, Kane Brown accepting the ACM International Award, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Clint Black receiving the Poet's Award, and K.

T. Oslin earning a posthumous Poet's Award. Additionally, Charlie Daniels was posthumously recognized with the ACM Spirit Award.

Several artists paid tribute to the evening's winners during their performances, including Lee Brice, Trisha Yearwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lady A, Brandy Clark, and The War and Treaty.

Carly Pearce hosted the 2023 ACM Honors, and the event will be available for streaming on Hulu starting from September 19.
