In celebration of Betty White Day, local businesses in Oak Park, including Mickey's Restaurant, will create their own "Betty White specials." TMZ reports that Mickey's will offer a meal featuring some of White's favorite foods, such as a hot dog, fries, and diet coke. These savory dishes were revealed by White herself in a 2012 interview with PEOPLE, where she expressed her love for "hot dogs and Red Vines and potato chips and French fries.
Red Vines will also distribute free licorice during the event. The celebration will feature a mural contest, and the winning design depicting Betty White will be painted in Oak Park's downtown area. Betty White was born in Oak Park in 1922 before her family relocated to California. Despite this, she returned to the Illinois town for visits in later years. The sad news of her passing was confirmed by her agent and friend, Jeff Witjas, who stated that she died peacefully in her sleep at her home.
