A Facebook petition caught the attention of Lorne Michaels, leading to Betty White's famous hosting gig on SNL in 2010. However, this wasn't the first time Michaels had considered White for the role. He revealed in a 2010 interview with EW that he had asked her to host several times in the past, but she had rejected the offers. Michaels eventually convinced White to say yes with the help of her longtime agent and friend, Jeff Witjas.

Once White agreed to host, Michaels went all out for the show. He brought in former SNL cast members Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, and Maya Rudolph to join the fun on a Mother's Day Eve episode.

Witjas described the experience as one of the most incredible for White, who initially had reservations about going to New York for the show.

Despite the grueling hours of rehearsals, Witjas praised White for her professionalism. He recalled how she effortlessly tackled multiple clothing changes within minutes and fully embraced the experience. The musical guest for that night was JAY-Z, who dedicated his performance of "Young Forever" to the 88-year-old White.

Former SNL writer and cast member Seth Meyers remembered White as the only host to receive a standing ovation at the after party.

Witjas confirmed the account, stating that White stayed until the early hours of the morning and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Witjas shared a specific memory from the week when White looked at him in a way he had never seen before, implying that she never wanted to do it again. However, she quickly went back to her usual self and had a fabulous time for the rest of the week. It was one of the greatest weeks for both White and Witjas, and she expressed her gratitude to him on their flight back home.

Overall, White's hosting stint on SNL in 2010 was a remarkable experience that showcased her enduring talent and left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
