Roger MacKenzie (played by Richard Rankin) and his wife Brianna (Sophie Skelton) were left beside themselves with worry in the latest episode of Outlander after it transpired their son Jemmy (Blake Johnston Miller) had been abducted by Rob Cameron (Chris Fulton).
The couple only discovered something was wrong when their daughter Mandy (Rosa Morris) awoke from a bad dream to confirm something had happened to her older sibling.
Roger and his ancestor Buck MacKenzie (Diarmaid Murtagh) raced to Craigh na Dun only to find Jemmy's scarf there but no sign of the child or Rob.
The storyline in the Starz series has been taken straight from Diana Gabaldon's seventh novel An Echo in the Bone and those who want to know how the book plays out can carry on - but for those who wish to avoid spoilers, turn back now.
In the book, Roger and Buck go back through the stones to rescue Jemmy, while Brianna and Mandy remain in the 20th century at Lallybroch.

This storyline takes place right at the end of An Echo in the Bone with the subsequent eighth novel Written in My Own Heart's Blood continuing to see this plot unfold.
The book reveals Rob isn't interested in time travel at all but instead wants the hidden Jacobite gold with Jemmy being the only one in the present timeline who knows its location.
Rob and his accomplices kidnapped Jemmy so he could find the hidden treasure to become rich with the child still very much in the 20th century.

Jemmy managed to get back to Brianna and Mandy after the siblings used their psychic link and a game of hotter and colder.
Jemmy, Mandy and Brianna had to outwit Rob as he continued to pursue the family and later wanted to know more about time travel.
In the books, Rob was a conspiracy theorist who was obsessed with the so-called Fraser Prophecy.
The prophecy foretold: "The last of the Lovat's line will rule Scotland" with Brianna's family being at the center of this.
Rob Cameron and his conspiracy theorist friends were desperate to find the gold and the secrets of Brianna's family.
Meanwhile, in the past, Roger goes on his own adventure as he tries to find his son and meets many familiar faces.
